Jimmy's Hollywood Fans ...

December, 1999 • Los Angeles, California

It was mentioned in a prior story that Jimmy was invited to provide the music for a big Hollywood wedding. We were shy at the time to reveal identities, but now that In Style magazine ( December '99 ) has done a four-page spread on the wedding, we have no more reason to be coy. It turns out that David James Elliott, the hot young star of the hit (it's in it's fifth season now) TV series "JAG," and his wife Nanci are major Jimmy fans, and it was they who asked Jimmy and the band to provide the music for their wedding. Jimmy loved everything about it, and says that they are both just the nicest people in the world.

David, by the way, was singing in a rock band in Toronto when he began getting acting roles. In addition to his work in films, he played Terry Parson in Melrose Place, but he still credits his one-time appearance as "Carl the Moving Guy" on Seinfeld for really getting things moving his way. And I noticed that Nanci guest-starred on the 3/7 episode.

The In Style article reported that Jimmy sang "Only One Angel" as they walked down the aisle, and in one of the pictures in the layout you can see a "Road Novel" cd

on an empty chair in an overview shot of the guest tables.

Though it wasn't mentioned in the article, the couple gave each of their many guests a copy of the cd as a gift.

From what I hear Jim Carrey's manager gave them a copy of Road Novel as they were leaving a party some time back, and they totally fell in love with Jimmy's music on the way home.

And this is really fun.....! One of the writers on the show recently handed Mr. Elliott the script for an upcoming show, and told him he just might find a surprise within concerning his favorite singer. Turns out there's a line right at the beginning of the show where David's character, Lt. Cmdr. Harmon "Harm" Rabb Jr., (860k) is thinking out loud ) "Now I four-wheel through the snow, sipping my morning coffee, listening to Jimmy LaFave...."

belated ps.... The episode just aired on February 8, and unfortunately we did not get advance notice and missed it, but the episode is Part One of a two-parter titled "Boomerang," (their 100th show, shot in Australia) so look for it when re-runs come around this summer. The Jimmy line comes during the opening credits.
