Can I Please Crawl Out Your Window?!!

Lafave Visits Bob Dylan's Boyhood Home....

July '96

2425 Seventh Avenue East, Hibbing, MN

~ While touring up in Minnesota, Jimmy and the band took a break to make a "pilgrimage" to Hibbing, where one Robert Zimmerman was born, raised, and schooled.

While in town, Jimmy met a lot of people who grew up with that Zimmerman boy, including one man who had been on his bowling team. And the maintenance man at the high school got himself talked into letting everyone take a look at the theatre where Bob gave his first public performance. Jimmy says the theatre is incredibly nice, and now we're batting around the idea of organizing a tribute concert right there in Hibbing High.

But the highlight was meeting the folks who bought Dylan's boyhood home several years ago, and getting a personal tour of every nook and cranny. While "on tour" Jimmy remarked that it was a strange feeling to be looking out the same windows at the same things Bob Dylan had gazed upon growing up. It seems the current owners took a liking to our boy Lafave, and as he was leaving, offerred him a gift of one of the original windows from the home. Lafave treasured it all the way across the country, until it was safely back home in Austin.

Our envy is hard to contain.
