"What a wonderful performer Abra Moore is...

...shuffling somewhere between the stylings of Edie Brickell and Rickie Lee Jones, she stakes out her own unique place with a superb confidence and ability to keep things slightly askew. At heart a pop writer, she keeps an acoustic writer's perspective as well, giving her pop structures a clean spaciousness and enough unexpected melodic and tonal twists to be always intriguing. In one sense, Abra Moore is all sweetness and light, but she peppers that sweetness with enough sultry, real-world twists to provide the depth needed for staying power.

Abra Moore has let the soul take complete control and result is a truly moving recording. The title is simply "Sing," but like all seemingly simple things, it bubbles with enough interesting quirks to merit exploration and enjoyment for a long time to come."

From Music Reviews Quarterly
1995 Martin Fullington

"Her wispy soprano voice works suprisingly well fronting a
full-speed ahead rock band, thanks in large part to Moore's
ability to convey a wide range of emotions
without sounding coy or self-indulgent.

"Strangest Places" is a quintessentially summery album,
heavy enough on hooks and harmonies to enjoy in a
convertible with the top down. The bouncy title track
even evokes a Magical Mystery Tour-era Beatles
sensibility, with its driving beat and slyly psychedelic vocals.

What shines most is the unaffected honesty of the 28-year-old
Moore's performance - as if she were dancing by herself in
a darkened room or thinking aloud with the lights off."

Amy Waldman

Bohemia Beat released Abra's first album, Sing, in mid-1995. On the strength of her first remarkable effort, Abra caught the eye of Arista-Austin, and was soon signed to her new and very supportive major label.

In May 1997, her first Arista album was released, and the first single, "Four Leaf Clover," was topping the modern rock charts and its video a fixture on VH-1 and MTV 120 Minutes. We couldn't be more proud of or happy for her.

And we are confident that anyone who falls in love with "Strangest Places" will find an equally beautiful place in their heart for her stunning debut.

The many pages on this site feature events, reviews and lotsa pics from the Sing era.

We are keeping Abra's tour schedule and news page up-to-date. We'll add new pictures as we get them. By way of apologies, many of the pictures on these pages are candids converted from video, but I think they look pretty fine. we'll be offering more of those as we get em.

We hope you enjoy this evolving peek into the very special artistry of Abra Moore.
